My car now has a clean bill of health after a new battery, oil and filter change, tire balance and rotation and a plug in a slow leak. Not bad for a five year old car with 28,010 miles on the odometer! Now if only it was that easy to get me a clean bill of heath for that same price. Granted I am a little older and have a few more miles on my odometer.
Current temperature at New River Gorge, WV is 68 degrees with a high of 91. Should be a nice first night in the tent.

T minus 2 days and counting
It's official, I am leaving Wednesday September 1st at 9:30am. Just picked up my last item, a "washing machine" for the road. What! I hear the masses cry. It's a 5 gallon bucket. Throw in clothes, laundry detergent and water, voilà instant washer. I'll let you know if it works as well as I'm hoping it will.
First destination is New River Gorge in West Virginia about 310 miles and a five hour drive from Falls Church VA. There are several camp sites. I am looking at the primitive kind, right down on the waters edge. My camp fire building skills as a girl guide (scout) will come in handy. There are no amenities, and the bathroom provided is a hut with a hole in it. Can't wait.

Only Days Away
OK folks here is the latest. Items purchased: Magellan Roadmate 1470, 2 person tent, green tarp, Coleman stove and liquid fuel, item borrowed, AC car cooler. Last major thing to do is have my car in for a service and maintenance which is scheduled for Tuesday morning.
